Managing dashboards (concise guide)

This page explains the actions you use to manage the dashboard canvas: Arrange Charts, Reset, Save, and Download. Read this before editing a dashboard β€” it covers what each control does and the right sequence to avoid losing work.

Quick summary (one-liner)

  • Arrange Charts β†’ enter layout/edit mode (move & resize tiles).
  • Reset β†’ clears the canvas (returns to a blank view). Use with care.
  • Save β†’ persist layout/config changes so everyone sees them. Must be used to keep edits.
  • Download β†’ export the current view as PDF / PPT / Interactive PPT (beta).

1) Arrange Charts β€” how it works

When you click Arrange Charts the dashboard enters a layout mode:
  • Every chart tile gets a thin blue outline and a small handle (L-shaped corner) in the lower-right.
  • Resize: drag the lower-right corner to change the tile size.
  • Move: click and drag the tile (anywhere on the tile header/body) to reposition it on the canvas.
  • While arranging you can reposition and resize multiple tiles until the layout looks right.
Important behaviour & tips
  • Layout changes are local until you click Save.
  • If you are an owner, your Save will persist the new layout for everyone.
  • If you are an assignee, you can rearrange and preview changes for yourself, but you cannot save global layout changes β€” the owner must save to make them permanent.

2) Reset β€” what it does (check if this only erase filters)

  • Reset clears the dashboard canvas and returns it to an empty/blank view (all tiles visually vanish).
  • Caution: Reset is destructive to the current canvas state and is not reversible from the UI. If you want to keep a layout, Save first before Reset.
When to use Reset
  • Start a fresh design from a blank canvas.
  • Remove temporary edits you don’t want to keep (but only if you haven’t saved them).

3) Save β€” persist your edits

  • The Save button is next to the date-range / Apply controls.
  • Always click Save after you: add charts, edit chart configs, resize/move tiles, or change arrangement.
  • If you leave the page without saving, all edits are lost (the layout will remain the previously saved layout).
  • Who can save? Dashboard owners can save global changes. Assignees may be able to edit a personal view but cannot save global changes (they can only save personal temporary views if that capability exists β€” check your role).
Save behaviour with past/current period
  • If you add charts while viewing Current Period or Past Records, the chart definitions are synced β€” saving updates the dashboard regardless of the period you used to create them.

4) Download β€” export the dashboard

  • Click Download (top-right) β†’ choose format:
    • PDF β€” static export of the current dashboard view (what you see).
    • PPT β€” PowerPoint slides (static).
    • Interactive PPT (Beta) β€” experimental export that may retain some interactivity/links (labelled Beta in the UI).
  • Downloads snapshot the current view: what you have filtered and the date range you’ve applied will be reflected in the export.
  • For best results, Arrange then Save and then Download so the exported layout matches the intended final layout.
Practical tips
  • If you need to send a single chart only, open the chart, use the tile’s 3-dot menu β†’ CSV (to export the data) or Edit β†’ then capture the chart for reports.
  • Use Interactive PPT for internal sharing when recipients might want clickable navigation β€” note it’s beta.
